Carbide tipped drills...A  standard drill set at department and sporting goods stores consists of  only 17 different sizes (in fractions of an inch) 5/8, 21/32, 11/16, 23/32, 3/4, 25/32, 13/16, 27/32, 7/8, 29/32, (and these standard mens thumb hole sizes) 15/16, 31/32,  1, 1 1/32, (and less common mens thumb holes sizes), 1 1/16, 1 3/32, 1 1/8.

Our standard drill set consists of 52 different sizes (we have six drill bit sets [two sets for each milling machine]so when the drills are dull they can be switched out immediately for sharp drill bits in order to drill a hole that has no edges nor corners) which not only encompass the most popular mens thumb hole sizes, but also women's and children's finger and thumb sizes as well.   These fifty-two sizes include 29/64, 15/32, 31/64, 1/2, 33/64, 17/32, 35/64, 9/16, 37/64, 19/32, 39/64, 5/8, 41/64, 21/32, 43/64, 11/16, 45/64, 23/32, 47/64, 3/4, 49/64, 25/32, 51/64, 13/16, 53/64, 27/32, 55/64, 7/8, 57/64, 29/32, 59/64, 15/16, 61/64, 31/32, 63/64, 1, 1 1/64, 1 1/32,   1 3/64, 1 1/16, 1 5/64, 1 3/32, 1 7/64, 1 1/8, 1 9/64, 1 5/32,    1 3/16, 1 1/4, 1 5/16, 1 3/8, 1 1/2, 1 3/4.  That is over three times the number of sizes we are able to drill into the custom fit bowling ball than that of a department or sporting goods store.  Even most pro shops only have 24 or 40 bit sets.  Investment on our part - $1400/set x 6 sets http://www.jayhawkbowling.com/Products/Drill_Bits.html

Armadillo by AMF (commonly, mistakenly called a Conquistador Helmet)...quickly finds the initial (off the hand) axis of rotation for each personalized individual orb - accurate to +/- .25"  Investment on our part - $50 each x 6 Armadillos

Quarter Scale.....accurately locates three points in 3-dimensional space...x, y and z axis, or in bowling ball terms, Pin Axis Distance, Preferred Spin Axis Distance, Pin up or down [PAD x PSA x (positive or negative midline position)].  Conveniently marked to help determine the degree of oval of the thumb hole and the X and Y axis for the Initial Axis of Rotation for each individual athlete - accurate to +/- 5 degrees or +/- .25 inch.
